Darth Vader, Comics, and a Bear (Oh, My!)

We’ve been a bit slow on the bloggin’. Let’s just say that Mr. Pickles learning to walk was a real game changer in the Flint house. Trying to keep up with that little man is truly a full time gig — leaving much less time for writing. That’s okay, though, because we are livin’ it up and having fun and that’s really what it’s all about, right? πŸ˜‰

Having missed the inaugural ABQ comic expo last year, we decided we weren’t going to miss this year’s for anything. Okay, more like a $5 admission special was on Groupon, but we DID want to go.

Russ was in comic heaven having never been to a comic con before. He walked around with stars in his eyes (Woz’s favorite part of the whole event). Oh, the sights to see!

Welcome to the dark side!

Let’s get this baby up to 88 mph!

To the Bat Cave!

And while the ABQ comic con wasn’t large compared to others, it sure had enough to keep us busy. Yes, Russ still had stars in his eyes. πŸ˜€

Russ’ version of a candy store.

The highlight for Woz was getting to meet Adam Baldwin of Firefly fame. Or, if you’re like her brother, Dave, you’d have a soft spot for Baldwin from the 1980s goody, My Bodyguard. (Linderman!!)

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to take photos with him, but Woz did snag his autograph.

Shiny, indeed! πŸ˜€

Love this spin on the show!

Burn the land and boil the sea…

Not bad for our very first comic con adventure. πŸ˜€

That’s all folks!

Oh wait, there was talk of a bear wasn’t there?

That night Mr. Pickles was all tucked in and we were watching TV. Out of nowhere Russ says “I think Xion needs a giant teddy bear.” Mom agreed wholeheartedly with dad on that one.

So the next day…

Mr. Pickles thought it was a great idea, too!

Safety first for Berry Flint!

The whole gang had a great time outside when we got home.

Yep, he fit right in.

Even Dewey agreed.

Best lap in the house.

He’s everyone’s new BFF. πŸ˜‰

Spring Into Summer – An Update

Wow, we really have no idea where the time goes. We wake up on a Saturday morning, blink and then it’s Monday morning all over again. Does this happen to anyone else? We can’t believe that summer is almost here!

In general, things are pretty quiet with the Flints. We’re just chugging along with work and still getting into a groove with Xion. And just when we’ve mastered his routine, he changes it up on us. Ah, life with an infant! We love it though and wouldn’t change one single thing. Well, if someone knows how to put more hours in the day, we request they do that ASAP, okay? Thanks in advance! πŸ˜€

No real theme today, just lots of random things for you!

Xion has outgrown the sink and is now in his big boy bathtub. He still freaks out for a few seconds when we put him in the water but he adjusts pretty fast and enjoys getting all sudsy. Who wouldn’t enjoy getting all sudsy?

Don't forget to get behind my ears, daddy!

The kitties are loving getting their outdoor time. We try to get them out at least once a week. As you can see, sunbathing is a favorite activity for this gang.

Oh hi.

Gosh, I can't even get any privacy out in the wilderness!

Are you the waitress? I require a snack!

We’ve been trying to get out for a walks on the weekends when it’s not blazing hot or so windy that Xion’s stroller could get blown into traffic! Yes, the New Mexican winds are crazy like that. Xion really has the best digs for our walks.

No, mommy and daddy, you cannot have a turn in here!

Cousin Mark came to town and we all gathered at Uncle Russ’ house for some brunch recently. Xion got to meet his older cousins, Ethan and Drew. Here he is with them and their mom, Jenn.

If their dads are any indication of how much trouble they'll get into together, we need to watch out for the teen years. πŸ˜‰

One of my most favorite pictures right now of X with Maxwell.

Cute overload.

Oh and some random notes:

We are super excited to say that besides our mortgage, we are officially debt free! Woz went to the bank on Tuesday and paid off her VW Beetle and says that it drives a little happier now. πŸ˜€ We are going to try to call into The Dave Ramsey Show next Friday since it’s his program we used to get out of debt. Hopefully we will get on air and Β be able to do the debt free scream. Β Freedom!

We are convinced Xion is a genius (we aren’t biased!) and are loving watching all the developments and changes in him. He’s really started to interact with us and recognize faces and sounds. His smile is absolutely adorable and we’ve even heard an actual adult laugh. It was pretty much the coolest thing we’ve ever heard in our lives. He controls his neck like a pro and isn’t crazy about tummy time, but he’s getting the hang of that, too. He’s starting to “talk ” a lot and recently noticed his feet. Oh, the concentration he gets on his face! His most favorite thing in the world is when his daddy sings a certain Pit Bull song to him. As soon as Russ starts to sing it, X smiles immediately and his little tongue starts wagging around. (We think he learned the tongue thing from Nana and Grandpa Flint’s doggies).

Lastly, as many of you know, Woz is a writer. She hasn’t done a ton of what she considers actual writing in a long time and has decided to really put some time and effort into it for the next year. Russ and Xion saw the perfect muse for her and picked it up a couple weeks ago after they noticed her eyeing it when they spent the afternoon in Nob Hill. She’s a gorgeous, pink Olympia typewriter that is fully restored but will stay retired and just look pretty on Woz’s writing desk.

Woz named her Louise.

So, if you happen to see Woz go ahead and ask how her writing is going. She needs a little encouragement. πŸ˜€

Alright, we’ll sign off for now but will leave you with that adorable smile we mentioned in the Xion update.

Now THAT is a smile!

Dewey and His Daddy – Birthday Edition

Two of my most favorite guys in the whole world celebrated birthdays recently. My handsome husband turned 31 and our eldest kitty, Dewey, turned 11.

Russ’ birthday celebration included dinner out with Mom and Dad Flint, a super fancy screening of Green Hornet in 3D, and a fun new toy!

What's he smiling about? Ooooo new toy!

What could it be?

I'm the greatest! hee hee hee

He’s knocking out the competition on his new Xbox Kinect!

He was packing punches!

Then the aftermath…

Okay, okay, so this wasn’t aftermath from the boxing match, but he did have an ouchie. His eye, though, is finally all better!

He also got lots of birthday cards and wishes. His favorite card being one from someone he hasn’t met just yet.

From the little monkey, Baby X πŸ˜€

Just a couple days later, our little Dew Man was excited to celebrate his birthday, too! We told the gang there was going to be a special birthday treat and here the birthday boy and his brother are asking when the heck we are making good on that promise.

Fear not, they all feasted shortly after this. Then it was giftie time! Dewey’s favorite thing in the whole world (besides food, of course) is the nip!

His eyes got big when he got presented with his birthday “cigar” full of nip. πŸ˜€

Oh man, this is gonna be good!

And he attacks!

I love you, nip!

Looks like these fellas has good celebrations, no? πŸ˜€

Can't wait until next year!

What A Year, Indeed

It’s hard to think that we could top all the great things that happened for us in 2010 like eloping, building a house, baking a baby, going on fun excursions, spending time with our families and hearing our kitties meow at all times of the day. Can 2010 be topped? It’s hard to say but we have a hunch that 2011 will be as good as, if not better, than the amazing year we’ve had. We are looking forward to more wonderful memories (and getting this little fella out of my tummy and into the world!). Let’s get this party started!

Before we do, we’ll share a few more photos as we put 2010 to bed.

‘Twas the night before Xmas…the stockings were hung above the big screen TV with care. πŸ˜‰

Can you guess which stocking belongs to who? This might be tricky!

Christmas morning at Mom and Dad Flint’s house!

Super happy Woz opening a Kindle. πŸ˜€

No mistletoe required here.

The look on Brady's face cracks me up. HAHAHAHAHA

Later that night was a great dinner by Mom. Woz introduced the fam to the Delgado tradition of playing bingo (complete with prizes) afterwards. Dad Flint is now a pro with marking his card with dried pinto beans and saying “Loteria!”. πŸ˜‰

Dewey’s trying a new look!

Yeah, I'm cool.

The annual tradition of a movie on Xmas Day.

One more for the road. We clean up nicely, no?

See you in 2011! πŸ˜€

We Want Their Jobs

Russ and I often joke about what the kitties do during the day when we aren’t home. Do they have big parties? India being the perfect hostess, Maxwell mixing the tunes, Dewey taking around trays of tuna snacks for the guests and Baby Kitty being a little dancing machine. Yeah, we know, we think too much.

Anyway… πŸ˜›

On Friday I got to work from home and find out what really happens during the day. It’s a wild ride, let me tell you! For the first couple of hours, the kitties seem a little confused that I’m home. After the novelty of me being home wears off (and boy does it), they settle in for what I can only imagine to be a daily routine.

The gang at 9 a.m. settling in for naps from their obviously exhausting morning. πŸ˜‰

Maxwell and Dewey under the tree.

Cozy India.

Let’s fast forward to around 11 a.m. So much has changed! *wink wink*

Don't you have to work, Mom?

Baby Kitty takes India's spot while India sunbathes.

After an exhausting morning, Dewey makes his way to the kitchen for some fuel.

Nom, nom, noms.

Seriously, Mom, shouldn't you be working?

Back to the action. Nevermind that the bed has actually been upside down all morning. hee hee

Cozy Dewey.

So, yeah, there you have it. I could post more photos but basically all you have to do is scroll to the top and you’ll get the gist of the afternoon, too.

Later that night, though…

Love bugs. πŸ˜€

We want to know how we can apply for their jobs. πŸ˜‰

Lazy Sunday

The last 2 weeks have been a whirlwind with travel and family visiting. It’s all been great and we’ll catch up with everyone SOON. Until then, you can see (via the kitties) what we’ve done this weekend.

Sunday at The Flint House

Back to reality and routine tomorrow.

Applecore! Baltimore! Who’s Your Friend?

We woke up early (for us!) Saturday morning to head to Corrales for their Harvest Festival Pet Parade.

Goats make me smile. πŸ˜€

For a hot second, we considered entering Dewey in the parade because he’s gotten so darn good at walking on lead. We decided against it though because, well, he’s a kitty and does his own thing. I just imagined him parking himself in the middle of the road and sunbathing. So, instead, we cheered on the others who did make it out that sunny morning.

He's got wheels and he knows how to use them!

Did I mention I love goats?

My favorite of the day. He's a corn dog! HAHAHAHA

After the parade, we walked around the various festival activities. I scored at the Friends of the Library sale:

Five books for $11. Love it.

We checked out the vendors, the food, and sat to rest our feetsies a bit while listening to the band of the hour and taking self portraits.

We're such nerds. πŸ˜›

We decided to save our tummies for the apple orchard but got a hot bag of kettle corn to keep us happy for the drive. The bag, though, was opened before we even made it to the car.

Okay, HE'S such a nerd. πŸ˜‰

Off to Dixon’s apple orchard we went! We went in search of the tasty champagne apples we’d been hearing so much about.

Mmmmm, apples!

Apparently, they let anyone into the orchard. We ran into these folks there, too. πŸ˜‰

Here comes Glenn leading the Canales parade!

So many apples!

Bins and bins! We picked a nice 15 lb. bag to go.

This said it all:

Bag of apples in hand, we headed out and made a spontaneous trip to Santa Fe to lunch at the Bobcat Bite. Russ had been telling me about this place since like the second I met him. We took this because he has one similar to it from last year at this time.

Then, it was finally time to head home. The view is always nice.

Homeward bound!

It ended up being a long day but didn’t seem like it. Until we got home and just wanted to crash! Oh, and for those of you who aren’t familiar with the title of my post, here’s the reason why. I haven’t been able to get the saying out of my head since the apple orchard. My dad knows exactly what I’m talking about here. Don’t ya, Pop? πŸ˜‰
